3 Reasons To Enter Our Holiday Lights Contest: Prize, Prize And Prize!

If you consider holiday decorating more of a sport than a nod to festivity, have we got the contest for you—complete with trophies. (Well, prizes, to be accurate, but we’re sticking with the sports analogy.) Introducing our first annual #NevadaLights contest, where Clark W. Griswold-esque holiday decorators are admired and rewarded for their profound zest for the season. Entries will be accepted December 5-21, so start decking the halls, walls and anything else that will hold still—ASAP.

Here’s how the contest works: Simply upload a photo or video of your display—on your honor, make sure it’s your very own—along with a note about why you deserve to win. (Word count applies. No life stories here.) Your entry will be thoroughly scrutinized for:

  • beauty (in the eye of our judgy judges)
  • creativity (family-friendly reindeer arrangements only please)
  • energy-efficiency (extra points for LED or solar powered decorations)

Let’s Talk Prizes

When it comes to contests, we’re a bit old school. Translation: not everyone will win a trophy—and that’s okay. The top three entries, however, will win free money to spend at Pier 1, a store filled with trophy-like home furnishings.

1st place:         $50 gift card

2nd place:         $30 gift card

3rd place:         $20 gift card

Luckily, anyone can (and should!) shine the spotlight on their fantabulous holiday display using the hashtag #NevadaLights. (This is also a good place to share not-gonna-win-but-it’s-beautiful-to-me displays.) Let your competitive spirit shine!

Now that you know the scoop, it’s time to untangle those strings of LED lights, get those inflatables inflating and start oozing holiday spirit. Then capture and share your display’s essence. The #NevadaLights contest begins December 5, and entries will be accepted until 5pm on December 21. We’ll announce the winners on Facebook and Twitter on December 22, and personally notify the winners via email.
